Story in Berlingske and on the website
Posted: February 17, 2008 - 13:46

Lourdes – The Lourdes series is published in Berlingske Tidende Sunday February 17 and the portfolio section of the website has been updated with the story. See the extended version at Hoping For A Miracle.

This week was the 150th anniversary of the first encounter a young woman apparently had with Virgin Mary in Lourdes, France. The photo story shows pilgrims visiting the town where the encounters took place, and where - according to the Vatican - miracles take place.

And by the way - with this series madsgreve.dk takes a huge step into a new era. This is the first story on the site shot with a digital camera… ;-)

Reportage for Vanity Fair

Assignment – In the January 9 issue Vanity Fair (Italian edition) publishes a reportage series, which I shot in the French town of Lourdes during New Years.
Lourdes is one of the most visited places by catholic pilgrims – six million people visit every year this town of 16.000 inhabitants.

Later the series will be on display in the portfolio section of this website.

Portrait
– Ulrik Wilbek coach for the Danish national handball team shot for Euroman.
Wilbek is probably the most successful coach in Danish handball. He has won medals with both the women’s and the men’s national teams. In January European Championship is coming up.

A Revelation

Diane Arbus – The first time I saw the work of Diane Arbus was twenty years ago, when photography was brand new to me. I was taking a photography class, where I was shown some of her work. At that time it didn’t get to me. I was more into finding out how my new Nikon FG-20 actually worked.
In the following years her work was something that was there, but for some reason I never really looked at it until recently.
A few weeks ago I found the book Diane Arbus: Revelations in a bookshop in Paris. A book showing her work, her contact sheets and her notes.

A new photographic hero has risen – twenty years too late…

Paris

Snapshots - A few photos shot somewhere between Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, some cafés and the hotel.
I have always dreamed about sitting outside a café in Paris with my Leica, and all of a sudden something fantastic happens right in front of me; like the couple kissing in the Doisneau photo.

I guess life isn't that easy, at least it never happened yet.
But I haven't given up...
